This week's Question:
What can you do over the Winter to improve your confidence in your golf game?
You are Correct!
ANSWER: B - Practice your game indoors
Practicing inside is the name of the game this Winter. It's the trend that everybody should be into. I mean why wouldn't you use the indoor time to improve your outdoor game. Unless you're really into watching something called Dancing With The Stars – you should have no excuses why you shouldn't practice at least once a week to improve your game.
I'm incredibly encouraged that we're going to see a lot of Golfers start off their season better than ever this Spring. Two weeks ago we offered a putting drill for you to practice inside – the response was so good, we offered it again last week. This is fantastic news because it shows that so many Golfers want to improve during the Winter. Whereas, what was your PLAN last Winter to improve? Or all the Winters before this Winter?
Confidence is huge on the golf course. Though confidence can't just be a thought – it needs to be earned! Confidence can't be achieved by reading a Bob Rotella book – that book may give you some ideas – but when push comes to shove on the golf course – you're just working with false confidence. Confidence is earned by truly knowing you're prepared.
By just saying you're confident (which many of these so-called golf psychology books tell you to do) won't allow you to keep confidence for long. Just a couple of bad shots and your confidence level will start to plummet and you'll revert back to your bad habits. And many times – you'll actually fall farther because false confidence is worse than no confidence. Though, if you have earned confidence – your confidence level will stay with you through all 18 holes.
When you have earned confidence – you have become a Player. When your confidence level stays consistent the whole round despite a bad shot here and there – you're going to be playing near your best golf most of the time you play. Yet, on the other hand - fake confidence leaves very quickly whenever anything bad happens.
Use the extra time that you now have away from the golf course to improve your golf game inside. The confidence you create will help you in the spring. If you still haven't emailed us about our Indoor Putting Drill – you can still do so at IndoorPuttingDrill@GolfMadeSimple.com
