This week's Question:

When was the last time you did a sit-up?

We’d love your answer to be A – though we fear that we’ll see too many D’s.

Sit-ups can be more important to your golf swing than you can imagine.

For example: what muscles of your body are benefiting from doing sit-ups? As most people will say they’re abdominals – the best answer is all of your muscles. Yes, your abs will be getting the greatest benefit – though all of your muscles will become stronger because the core of your body is getting stronger.

A good, consistent golf swing involves all your muscles working together – yet, these muscles are pretty much tied to the core of your body. This means that once you start to strengthen your core – it will help your arms, your legs, your hips and your shoulders to produce a better golf swing. You’ll even feel as if you have more balance during your golf swing.

And as many Golfers say they have the problem of not being able to get through the golf ball – a stronger core (through sit-ups) should help you to alleviate some of that problem. The same is true for the Golfer that doesn’t feel they turn enough in their back swing. This can be associated with not having the strength or flexibility in your core. By doing sit-ups, you’ll be working on creating more strength and flexibility.

Nobody is saying you need to do 100 sit-ups a day. Start today with 5 and see how it goes. Then do the same tomorrow. And then do it again the next day. Keep on doing it, when the time is right to do more – you’ll know it. Just keep doing it each morning and it will lead to good things in your golf swing.

This is the time to be training for Golf Season. Start now so that you play well this summer. If you don’t start now - you’ll be wishing you did when June comes around.

In the above poll question, what do you think these Golfer would answer – Tiger Woods, Annika Sorenstam, Vijay Singh, Lorena Ochoa, Sergio Garcia, Padraig Harrington

What do you think this Golfer would answer – John Daly

Which list would you like to have your golf game associated with? Saying that, it’s my hope that if we ask this same question next week, that your answer will be A.
