This is the official announcement of Golf Made Simple - San Diego!
This space is usually reserved for ideas to improve your golf game using thoughts on how to play better golf and at the same time understand what holds a Golfer back from playing better. But, this week we're using this space for a very special announcement - - -
St. Augustine, Amelia Island, Santa Barbara and now (drum roll please) San Diego, California!
We're excited that Golf Made Simple will have another Southern California location. And some people say - "Why do you want another Golf School in California?" To which I answer - Have you ever been to Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino? The question should be - why wouldn't you want to spend a few days playing and practicing on this highly ranked golf course and have access to exciting casino gaming at night?
Starting the first week of January 2006, we'll be starting our schedule of Golf Made Simple in San Diego, California at Barona Creek Golf Club, located at Barona Valley Ranch Resort & Casino. Because of the demand we have received for our program in Santa Barbara, California - we wanted another location on the West Coast. Now we won't just go to any location - there must be something special about it. And this $260 million hotel - casino - golf course resort offers Golf Made Simple Golfers the opportunity to improve their golf game in style!
So ask me if I'm excited about Barona Valley Ranch. I'm off the wall because this Resort is perfection for holding a Golf Made Simple program! Before I bore you with all the details - let me get you excited by showing you the stats on the Barona Creek Golf Club - GolfWeek Magazine - one of only 2-golf magazines that I read - named Barona Creek Golf Club:
The 78th Best Modern Golf Course in America - What does this mean? GolfWeek rates courses in 2-categories - Classical (built before 1960) and Modern (built after 1960). So what does this say about Barona Creek Golf Club? It's rated as the 78th best Golf Course in America out of over 15,000 golf courses built since 1960! And out of the 77 golf courses rated higher, 49 are private courses. So that means our new golf course is the 29th best modern golf course you can play in America!
5th Best Golf Course in California - 5th Best? Well Pebble Beach has a lock on #1! And classics such as SpyGlass and Pastiempo are #2 and #3. Heck, even Torrey Pines which will host the US Open in 2008 and hosts the Buick Invitational each year is ranked 9th! That's how good Barona Creek Golf Club is!
Golfweek's Top California Public-Access Courses
1. Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach
2. Spyglass Hill Golf Links, Pebble Beach
3. Pasatiempo GC, Santa Cruz
4. Rustic Canyon GC, Moorpark
5. Barona Creek GC, San Diego
6. PGA West Stadium Course, La Quinta
So we're not talking about your run-of-the-mill golf course. The golf writer James Achenbach writes of the golf course: "The deepest reward on this course is found by regarding it as an 18-hole challenge. Hole after hole, the layout demands strategy. It demands correct placement off the tee, and it demands iron shots to the proper part of each green. Those who attempt to turbo-blast the ball on every shot will fall victim to something called lost-ball disease."
That's what Golf Made Simple calls having a PLAN. If there's a #1 reason why we wanted to be at this golf course, it could likely be that Barona Creek Golf Club will show you the value of establishing a PLAN on the golf course. This is not to say that it's the hardest golf course to play, it says that you can play well with a PLAN and you can struggle without one. Although this is true on just about every golf course you play - it seems this golf course more than any other that I've played (well, maybe with the exception of The Stadium Course at TPC at Sawgrass) teaches you the value of having a PLAN.
Does Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino offer anything else besides the golf course?
We also want our programs to be in Vacation Destinations (or as our Canadian and European friends say - Holiday Destinations). Barona Valley Ranch adds another option for you - it's a Resort with a beautiful hotel, Casino, Spa and Restaurants on property. Once you're there, there's no reason to leave. Wake up in the morning, have some breakfast, walk out the back door to the golf course (one of the best in the world!), finish your Golf Made Simple program for the day, shower, dinner, Casino and then repeat the next day. We even have a program set-up that we can arrange for a Town Car and driver to pick you and your bags up at the San Diego airport and of course bring you back when you're ready to go home - no rental car needed.
How does that sound?
Each of our locations must have something special beyond the golf course:
St. Augustine - History, Oldest City in America
Amelia Island - Beach, great restaurants
Santa Barbara - Wine Country
Barona Valley Ranch (San Diego) - Hotel on property, Casino and Best Year Round Weather in America
Trust me, the golf course is awesome. It's perfect for what Golf Made Simple believes in - You need to hit your Driver well, you need to make a PLAN on every shot and you must be very good on and around the greens. Being able to read greens correctly is 40% of being a great putter and at Barona Creek Golf Club you need to read greens. So as with Golf Made Simple in our other 3-locations, we'll spend time on what the Monkeys call reading greens, but what we call "Feeling Greens".
Because I can't describe in words how spectacular the Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino is, the only way I can give you a feel to what I mean is with pictures - "A picture's worth a thousand words!" - all the pictures in this week's Golf Improvement Weekly are from the Barona Valley Ranch Resort and Casino.
Now that I've gotten myself all worked up and excited again, I'm never going to calm myself down and get to sleep tonight. I can't wait to start class at Barona Creek Golf Club on Friday, January 6th! And for everybody that can't make it to California on January 6th, we have the last section below with other dates available at all 4-Golf Made Simple facilities.
Regards,
Marc
