Golf Made Simple's Newest Location
Lake Tahoe area, California
This space is usually reserved for ideas to improve your golf game using thoughts on how to play better golf. But, this week we're using this space for a special announcement - - - Lake Tahoe area, California!
We're excited that Golf Made Simple will have a Lake Tahoe area location. And some people say - "Why do you want another location in California?" To which I answer - Have you ever been to WhiteHawk Ranch and the Lake Tahoe area? The question should be - why wouldn't you want to spend a few days playing and practicing on a golf course that’s nestled in the Lake Tahoe area?
Starting June 1st, 2007
That's when we'll be starting our schedule of Golf Made Simple in Clio, California at WhiteHawk Ranch. Because of the demand we've received from our San Diego Location at Barona Resort, we wanted another California Location. Though, the atmosphere is completely different 5,000 feet up in the Sierra Mountains at WhiteHawk Ranch. If you ever been to the Lake Tahoe area, you probably know what I mean. If you never have been here, it should be on your Top 10 list. It’s an impressive area! The sky is bluer than blue and the air is cleaner than clean. I can’t picture a more beautiful spot in the summer.
With accommodations at The Lodge at Whitehawk or the Half-Million Dollar Villas on the golf course, you’re just a wedge away from meeting your GMS Instructor for a day of golf improvement. The Lodge offers Luxury Cabins just steps from the golf course, along with breakfast in the morning – then add the Lodge's dinners at night and you won’t want to leave!
So ask me if I'm excited about WhiteHawk Ranch.
Now we won't just go to any location – We’re not just going to start a GMS Program at any golf course. WhiteHawk Ranch has been honored by Fairways & Greens as being one of the Top 20 Golf Courses in the Western United States. GolfWeek named it as the 11th best course you can play in California – ahead of Torrey Pines (2008 US Open). Or as Sierra Golf Magazine wrote – The stone entry sign simply reads ‘Whitehawk Ranch.’ Perhaps there should also be an advisory sign that warns, “Caution: Entry may cause addiction to a unique, refreshing lifestyle."
Does WhiteHawk Ranch offer anything besides the golf course?
Once you're here, there's no reason to leave. Wake up in the morning, take a 30 second walk to the Lodge as you breathe the clean, crisp Sierra air, have some breakfast, walk a few yards to the golf course, finish your Golf Made Simple program for the day, shower, a glass of wine and dinner at the Lodge, gaze at the stars as you finish your spirits, get the best night sleep you’ve ever had and then repeat the next day.
How does that sound?
All our programs are in Vacation Destinations or as our Canadian and European friends say - Holiday Destinations. WhiteHawk Ranch adds another option for you. Are there things to do if you’re coming with a non-Golfer? The Lake Tahoe and Lakes Basin area is beautiful. There are swimming lakes all over the place, there’s horseback riding, shopping in the small town of Graeagle, fly fishing, rafting, miles of hiking trails and just down the road is Lake Tahoe!
Trust me, the golf course is awesome. It's perfect for what Golf Made Simple believes in - You need to hit your Driver well, you need to make a PLAN on every shot and you must be very good on and around the greens. Being able to read greens correctly is 40% of being a great putter and at WhiteHawk Ranch you need to read greens. So as with Golf Made Simple in our other 4-locations, we'll spend time on what the Monkeys call reading greens, but what we call "Feeling Greens".
Because I can't describe in words how spectacular WhiteHawk Ranch is, the only way I can give you a feel to what I mean is with pictures - "A picture's worth a thousand words!" - all the pictures that you see here are from WhiteHawk Ranch.
Now that I've gotten myself all worked up and excited again, I'm never going to calm myself down and get to sleep tonight. I can't wait to start class at WhiteHawk Ranch on Friday, June 1st, 2007!
Reservations for WhiteHawk Ranch are now being accepted.

Hayden,
Jeff, Jake, & I had a smooth trip back home and are anxious for the weather to warm-up so that we can try out our new & improved golf skills.
Both Jeff and Jake are extremely pleased with what they learned and feel that they will both be playing on a substantially higher level than before. They are both talking about coming back. Your performance in teaching new skills and dealing with the very different personalities in the group was superb.
As you know, this was my second time to GMS. When Carol and I came two years ago, we learned a great deal, though I was amazed at how much I had forgotten. Within a few minutes of each drill, you had me hitting more accurately and farther than I had since I started golf four years ago. Perhaps even more importantly, you had me clearing my head of the endless checklist of swing technique items that we tend to clutter our brains with while addressing the ball. It is obvious now that the mind clutter was a great impediment to my game.
I was able to practice the Left and Right Warm-up Drill - the Short, On and Over Drill, followed by the Alternating Clubs Drill. Doing the Drills back home confirmed the improved results that I experienced at GMS. Perhaps the best way that I can express the improvement is to remind you that I played 27 holes at GMS WITH THE SAME BALL! Nothing short of a miracle.
I have already spoken with several friends who quickly noted my enthusiasm for GMS and have expressed an interest in knowing more. I steered them to your website. When they see my improved game, I bet they'll be calling for registration information.
Thanks again for a terrific experience.

Dear Jeff,
Thank you for a very enjoyable and enlightening 3 days, GMS is a great set up and I hope to return one day. I’m sure you get emails with hole by hole analysis so I won’t bore you with all mine, but I played 36 holes this weekend. Made par on the opening hole (longest and hardest over 400 yards uphill) both days, once by chipping to a foot and today by hitting a 2 iron to 6 feet out of rough, lipped the putt. All told, I chipped within a foot 5 times, chipped in from 15 yards for a 3 on the third and made 3 “Sandys”. My shot of today was a 3 iron on the 180 yard, par three 17th to 9 inches, almost an ace.
Yesterday evening I took my wife for a GMS chipping lesson and to work on her PLAN, today she ran off 7 straight pars from holes 9 to 15 and shot 40 on the back, 4 better than her best ever! Maybe I should be a teacher instead of a Player! All this and it has only been 3 days since Florida.
The PLAN is working!
Best regards,

Amidst the falling snow last week, Marc and I were able to experience the beautiful lodging that we'll be offering all our Golfers that come to see us at our brand new location – WhiteHawk Ranch!
We can offer everyone something that will fit their preferences - from a private cabin at the Lodge at WhiteHawk Ranch to the WhiteHawk Ranch Villas!
The Lodge at White Hawk offers beautifully appointed cottages that are only steps away from the main Lodge and the Golf Club. Each cottage has either 1 bedroom 1 bath or 2 bedroom 1 bath or 2 bedrooms 2 bath along satellite tv, air conditoning and a view of the gorgeous meadows and surrounding mountain ridges. You can wake up and wonder over to the Lodge and have a yumm-o breakfast each morning which is included when you stay at the Lodge.
And if you really want to “do it up” - you can stay at the beautifully appointed WhiteHawk Ranch Villas – each one is decorated by the property owner– one of the Villas that we viewed had a very interesting collection of honey keepers as well as a collection from his travels around the world – absolutely amazing. Each of these villas are fully equipped and we can offer you either a 2 bedroom with 2.5 bath or a 3 bedroom with 3.5 bath - perfect for a family or a foursome or two couples!
If you plan to bring your family they can enjoy the heated pool along with quaint little village of Graeagle. There you will find some specialty shopping along with other activities for the non golfers to enjoy – hiking, horse back riding and swimming in the nearby pristine lakes!
Our beautiful location will be available from June to October so the space is going to fill up quickly - if you have never experienced this kind of outdoor beauty and nature, you have to come and see us at beautiful WhiteHawk Ranch!
Regards,
Alex 'Queen Bee' of GMS

Those who know - don’t tell. Those who don’t know - tell. Why is that when you’re struggling on the golf course – everybody else that’s also struggling doesn’t think twice about offering you advice? Though, why is it that the Player that’s playing well never offers advice?
The Monkey will advise you that you’re ‘coming over the top’ or ‘not turning’ or not pronating your wrists’ or ‘you need to swing more inside to out’ without even asking if you’d like their advice. The Player will only offer advice if you ask. And their comments 9 out of 10 times will be just as simple as – ‘try to swing a little smoother’.
The Monkey is consumed with ‘it can’t be that easy’ – so they make it tougher than it should be. The Player is focused on making it as simple as swinging smooth – “Tick Tock”
Those who know - don’t tell. Those who don’t know - tell.

Still Trying To Hit Fairways?
Here’s another case on how overrated hitting the fairway is. Most Golfers are too consumed with hitting the middle of the fairway. Yes, it’s important to keep your golf ball in play – but hitting the fairway takes up too much of your brain power. And worse – by putting so much pressure on yourself to be in the fairway might be limiting the distance you’re able to hit the golf ball.
Luke Donald is one of the Top Players in the World. In the Honda Classic last weekend, he was the 4th most accurate Driver of the golf ball, though he came in 46th place in the tournament.
Boo Weekley was the 36th most accurate Driver of the golf ball, though he was 3 feet away on Sunday from coming in 1st place (missed his putt and settled for 3rd in a playoff).
How is it that Boo beat Luke by 10 strokes when Boo hit just over half the fairways and Luke hit nearly three quarters of the fairways? How is it possible that when you’re speaking about the best Players in the world, that the most accurate isn’t the best?
Maybe it’s because Boo hit the ball on average – 23 yards longer off the tee! So even though Luke was in the fairway, he might’ve been hitting his 5-iron to the green – when Boo might have been in the rough hitting his 7-iron to the green. Maybe that’s why Boo hit more Greens in Regulation, along with most likely being closer to hole to make putts – referenced by Boo averaging .5 less putts per Green in Regulation than Luke.
Keeping the ball in play is important – keeping it in the fairway isn’t! The more concerned you are with the fairway – the more distance you’ll lose off the tee. If you want to play better golf - hit it long and make your putts!
