One of the perks we receive at GMS is that we’re forwarded every email in hyperspace that has a reference to golf. Some are good, some are bad and some are excellent. I’ve now seen two excellent golf emails in the last 6 months.

The first was the JC Anderson email – this is an email that I think we received at least 72 times – but the video is so good, it was worth watching every time. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about – it’s the one that he gives a bunch of golf tips in rapid succession and then hits a trick shot. If you haven’t seen this video; just email us and we’ll forward it to you.

The second email has been sent to us a few times – I guess it hasn’t made it around as much as JC has. This one isn’t a video, but a sketch that has a Golfer’s notes scribbled over the paper. To view the sketch, click here

It’s almost cliché for Golfers to joke about all the swing thoughts they have to think about every time they swing. Some of these swing thoughts are done over-the-top to show the ridiculousness we put into hitting the golf ball. Though, I believe this sketch could be from a Golfer that really is trying to do all this stuff.

Take a look at the sketch and try to pick-out how many of these notes that you’re trying to do on each swing – or have tried in the past.

The Monkey will actually consider using some of these notes

Hayden,

I have been applying the lessons we learned from you for the past eight months. My game has improved considerably. I have only been over 100 once or twice, and have been shooting mostly in the eighties, with a low of 81 on a course with a rating of 71.0/127.

I’ve improved from a 23 handicap to a 16 handicap. I feel I have only utilized about a third of what you taught us, so I am expecting to continue to improve for the next year or two. I really feel you have given me the tools to become a single-digit handicap.

Susie has been talking about coming back for another session. We have both told many people about GMS, usually after they have remarked about our markedly improved games.

Marc,

Single digits are in sight! My USGA Index is now a 10.9. Actually, I might already be there as I posted a couple more low scores since this 'official' tally.

Sincerely,

The Buzz with Alex

Golf Is Fun, The Buzz Is Better

We will have some special announcements coming up in the next few weeks that I believe you’re going to like. What are these announcements? I can’t tell you yet – but have I ever let you down before?

As far as dates available for GMS classes – this July has been the most attended July we’ve ever had at our Amelia Island location and August is the same way. The prebookings for August have exceeded expectations.

Why? I believe this is because of a few reasons: One – We’ve had more Golfers than ever coming back to see us, not just from last year, but Golfers coming back for the second time this year. Two – GMS Golfers that have made so much improvement that their Golfing Friends have noticed and want to see the same improvement in their games. Three – The accommodations and amenities of our Amelia Island locations are very good. Elizabeth Pointe Lodge (right on the beach) has gotten rave reviews from our Golfers staying there.

We do still have availability at our Amelia Island location for August, but spots are filling up fast. Also, take a look at some of our September and October dates available. It’s a little known secret that October in Florida might just be the best month of the year to be here!

Regards,

Alex – Director, Golf Made Simple Inc.

Why is reaching your goals on the golf course so easy for some and seemingly so out of reach for others? It seems to me that the Golfers that are reaching their goals are more patient. Why is reaching your goals on the golf course so easy for some and seemingly so out of reach for others? It seems to me that the Golfers that are reaching their goals are more patient.

The Golfers that have the most trouble expect to see miracles every round. And because they’re searching so hard for this miracle – they become flustered after just one bad shot and end up with a Triple Bogey for that hole. Then because they feel pressured to make-up for that Triple Bogey on the next hole – they try too hard and make another Triple Bogey. At which time they declare to everyone in earshot – ‘I suck!’ And trust me – things don’t get better from there.

Golfers that do reach their goals don’t need to see improvement every round of golf. And because they don’t pressure themselves to see dramatic improvement – they improve faster than the Golfer described above. Be at peace with yourself on the golf course and the outcome of your rounds will progressively get better.

Shoot 83 Like A Pro

Just like last week when we wrote about – How To Score 81 – this week, we got lucky again because Len Mattiace shot 83 in the 1st round of the John Deere Classic. I say “lucky” because we now get more insight on what it takes for you to score in the low 80’s. This was not a good round for Len, though it might be a career round for you!

Mattiace had 2 birdies, 6 pars, 7 bogeys, 2 Double Bogeys and 1 other for his 83. To accomplish his 83 he hit 6 fairways out of 14 (something you should be able to accomplish); he hit his Driver 290 yards (he did this on a 7,257 yard course – so that would equate to a man on a 6,200 yard course hitting his Driver about 230 yards and a lady about 140 yards; something you could accomplish).

Mattiace did hit 8 Greens in Regulation (which might be something that 8 out 10 Golfers will have issues with); and he had 32 putts (which you could accomplish). If you could match his stats – you could also score 83. Though, if you miss his stats by just a little – you should still score in the mid 80’s!
