“I Carded A 75 During A Recent Weekend Tournament!”

(A Few Years Ago I Struggled To Break 90)

GMS,

Its true that once one attends a GMS school, we all become like family! I wanted to relay a quick success story that I experienced just this season. I carded a 75 during a recent weekend tournament and took home the trophy. I am proud to say that my “plan” was perfect for that day. I owe it all to the things I learned from you at GMS.  Although we covered numerous golf fundamentals at GMS, for me making a plan was the most important thing.

When I came to you a few years ago , I struggled to break 90. Those days are long gone! I intend to take the course over again just for the enjoyment of it and who knows, I just might learn something new!

I'll stay in touch,

“I Have Been To At Least 8 Different Golf Schools and GMS Is The Best!”

Marc,

Just wanted to drop a quick note of appreciation for your golf school.  I have been to at least 8 different golf schools and this is the first time I have returned from one, and hit the ball more solidly and more squarely then I did prior to attending the golf school.

Your Instructor in Phoenix, James Rekart, is an excellent golf instructor and your techniques on the downswing and emphasis on taking divots has helped tremendously.

“I Cut 7 Strokes Off My Score!”

(And Now I Know How To Correctly Hit Down On The Ball!)

Alex,

I snuck in 9 holes over the weekend (after attending GMS) and scored significantly better than I did when playing on a golf trip 3 weeks ago.  I cut 7 strokes off my score since I now know how to correctly hit down on the golf ball and I have a better pace of swing.

The 3 days I spent with GMS has changed my golf game forever and for the better.

Thanks again.

“GMS Again Exceeded Our High Expectations!”

(The Instructors You Select For GMS Are Absolutely Fantastic!)

Marc,

Just wanted to let you know, we were a little worried that after twice attending GMS level 1, we might not be as enthusiastic a third time ... after all, we had 2 wonderful experiences.  Our Instructor, Alan would have some very high expectations to meet.

Well, it was fantastic! Alan exceeded our high expectations and we were blown away with how much we learned (again).  The Instructors you select for GMS are absolutely excellent; we have been more impressed with each class we have taken. The consistency of the program and the reinforcement of the key elements helps me build on my learning each time.

I am very excited to see my golf game continue to improve. Thank you for all you do to coordinate and accommodate the students of GMS.

“From Mid To High 90’s To An 83!"

GMS,

Just wanted to report that after my brief chat using your Instructor For Life program, my road to improvement continues. Since attending GMS, I have been regularly shooting in the high 80’s.

That is way better than before I attended the Golf Made Simple school, but I knew I could get even lower. Well, the other day I shot an 83 for the first time and it felt really good. Even at the time, I knew that I had left about 4 shots on the course so a 79 is definitely in my future.

The difference after just a brief Instructor for Life chat was that I reassessed what I had been doing, reverted to a better takeaway and remembered my tick tock. Those two things led me directly to my 83...and 79 awaits - perhaps tomorrow.

Thanks again for a great program.

“From Trying To Break 100 To Scoring An 87!"

(In Less Than 9 Months!)

Marc,

I came to GMS a little less than a year ago. I am proud to report that I had my first hole-in-one about three months ago and last month I scored an 87.

When I came to GMS my goal was just to try and break 100, now I regularly shoot in the 90s and my new goal is to get to the 80’s more often ...your article in the last issue of Golf Improvement Weekly about shooting 83 was most timely.

“I Broke 80 For The First Time!"

From High 90's And 100+ To 78!

Alex, I broke 80 for the first time. When I attended my GMS session I was continuously in the high nineties with an occasional 100+ thrown in.

In my 60s and playing the 6,300 yd tees, I shot a 78 at a local course. I told everyone I didn't want to know how well I was doing going into the last 9 holes. I was just determined to do my best. On the last hole, I stuck to my plan, laid back away from all the trouble, and made par.  I actually made par on the last 4 holes).

“From Over 100 To Now In The 80’s!"

In Less Than 3 Months!

Hi Alex -

Since attending the Golf Made Simple taught by Marc, I have really done well.  I have gone from having games in the 100-105 range to consistently in the 90 – 92 area and a few 88’s and 89’s.

I am on the Golf Channel Amateur tour and I Qualified for their National Tournament (In no small part due to GMS)  at TPC Sawgrass down your way.

“A Hole In One And First Time Breaking 90!”
(16 Strokes Better In Less Than 10 Days)

Hey Jeff,

Just wanted to drop you a note on how my dad and my golf trip to the Greenbriar Resort went. Today we played on the "Old White Course", the same one they just played the PGA Tour Event on 2 weeks ago.

The 3rd hole was a 190 yard par 3 and I hit 4 iron. By the time we got up to the green, we realized it was a hole in one.

I know one hole doesn't make the golfer, so you will be happy to hear what I learned at GMS carried over to the rest of the round; I shot an 89. Having never come close to the 80's (usually scoring above 105), I can do nothing but thank you for all the help you and the GMS drills have provided me.

Thank you so much for everything,

“Last Week I Shot My Lowest Round Ever!!”

Hello Sam:

You may remember that Dennis and I attended GMS at La Quinta this past April.

We wanted to give you an update on our progress. Dennis is doing great and has recently had several rounds in the high 80s and has gained a lot of distance on all his clubs.

Last week I shot my lowest round ever, a 93, at the La Cantera Palmer Course in San Antonio, Texas.

We’re both having so much fun out on the course and are we are having fewer blow up holes.

Thank you so much for all your encouragement and great instruction.  We hope to see you again this fall.

“From Over 100+ To Now In The Mid 80's!!”

Marc,

I went to your GMS location in Sotogrande, Spain in March and had a great time with Jeff. I have gone from scoring anywhere from the mid 90s to over 100+ … to now regularly scoring in the mid 80s and rarely over 90.

My driving is eerily straight and 30-40 yards longer - my friends are amazed!
The concentration on simple thoughts like tempo and hitting the middle of the club - especially in putting - has changed my whole approach to the game. Why do others make it so difficult? I am aiming for another GMS in the autumn, hopefully with my friend Dave this time.

“I Shot 89 The Other Day. First Time In The 80's!!”

Hi Hayden,

You may remember Ken and I came down to see you in April at Heron Bay. I have been working hard on my chipping (Weight On Front Foot drill) and my putting (5 Iron Drill and Ball Behind Ball Drill).

My driving has been more consistent with the Belly Swing and Modified Belly Swing Drill.

All the practicing paid off!! I shot an 89 the other day. First time in the 80s!!

I have been using the GMS Player Page on the Golf Made Simple website to remember all I learned. This is a great resource.

I want to thank you for your great attitude and keeping it fun every day. I am looking forward to producing some more rounds in the 80's. I hope to be back to see you next spring.

Hope you are well. Margaret, Carol, Mayo and I attended the March 22nd GMS in Sotogrande, Spain (at Almenara Resort). I just wanted send you a little feedback on how we are doing.

“You Flushed 20 Years Of Bad Habits Out Of Our Monkey Brains!”

Hi Golf Made Simple Gang,

My friends and I just finished GMS last week (May 3,4,5) with James in Arizona. What a BLAST!

Your simple concepts and drills flushed 20 years of bad habits and misconceptions out of our monkey brains in the first four hours.

And what really made our time even more great was James. His enthusiasm, understanding of the golf swing, and easy-going manner is infectious. He is a credit to your organization. We are all looking forward to a summer of lower golf scores and will keep you posted on our progress.

“GMS Far Surpasses All Others!”

Hi Alex!

Seriously! I am speaking volumes for GMS. I can't say enough about it.

I've been with other instructors and have seen other types of technical instructions.. and GMS far surpasses all others.

The concept is so simple, yet profound. It is the keystone that puts golf together with a purpose.

“85 - My Best Round Ever!”

Hi Marc,

More details on how I'm hitting it better--much better tempo and much more solid contact. My regular golf partners have commented on that and how I seem much more relaxed. And I am! I'm freed up from all those swing thoughts you mentioned in the latest GIW. I'm just concentrating on tick tock on the course and the drills on the range. I especially like the step thru drill--it really helps get my left side involved.

It came together today when I shot 85--my best round ever. And that's not all -- I started the back with 4 bogies BUT THEN, over the last 5 holes, by far my best ever stretch--par par birdie par par for a 39! First time ever under 40 for 9 holes.

Thanks a lot - Tick Tock

“More In 2 Days Than I Received In A Lifetime Of Lessons!”

Hi Alex,

First of all I just want to say what a great experience I had with Jeff and the Golf Made Simple Program at Heron Bay. I got more out of my 2 days with Jeff than I had in a lifetime of half-hour, patchwork lessons at home.

The simple practical, immediately applicable approach to improving your game was just what I needed in order to take some significant strides this golf season. I am already seeing improvement in the few rounds I have played since returning home. Jeff was an excellent instructor /teacher. He was very patient and clearly outlined the objectives we were trying to accomplish from drill to drill.

I definitely plan on attending GMS again (probably next spring - level 1.5).

Thanks again and hopefully I will be able to convince some of my golfer friends to pay you guys a visit. God knows some of them could use it!

“My 3 Days With GMS Was Tremendous!”

Hi Marc,

My 3 days with GMS were outstanding. I learned so much during the 3 day program. My golf striking over the 27 holes of golf was the best it had ever been. I can remember one shot that made such a crisp ball striking sound that others heard it on the other side of the fairway. Also, driving the green over a huge tree for an eagle putt was definitely a great memory.

I can't say enough about our instructor, Sam Burge. Tremendous teacher, funny, to the point, and for me, the one left handed player in the group, he even demonstrated left handed. I plan to utilize the Instructor for Life program, as I have a renewed dedication to succeed and have more fun with golf.

All of the drills made me feel stable, so that I could focus on turning the core back. If I rushed at the top, then all I could do is use my arms. Yet the drills took the feel of active arms away and replaced it with active core turns.

Again, thanks to GMS and thanks to Sam.

“My Lowest Scores Ever!”

Hello Hayden,

Beth and I wanted to let you know how we are progressing in the two months since our Golf Made Simple three day golf school. Beth is playing some great golf. A week and 1/2 ago she shot her lowest score, an 85 on our home course. Her putting and ball striking have improved greatly. The most significant improvement is her confidence. The Women's Club Championship is in two weeks and she is very excited about her chances.

I am still humming when I have the driver in my hand and the results are fantastic. More fairways lead to lower scores. I shot two 78's this week which are my lowest scores ever. I am also enjoying the short game. When I miss a green I look forward to chipping it close to the pin and one putting. I am also using my time at the range more productively and before every round I go through the 29 ball drill which helps my rhythm significantly.

We plan on taking the Level 1.5 course in the Autumn.

Best Regards,

“My Wife Broke 100 and I Almost Broke 85!”

Hi Marc,

My wife and I just finished our Golf Made Simple experience this last Sunday with James at Trilogy at Vistancia. First off, we would like to say that James was by far the best instructor either of us have ever had. His patience, humor, understanding and ability to communicate were just what we needed. He is clearly an asset to your organization.

As for the class itself, we have nothing but positive things to say. I have been a golfer for about 6 1/2 years and my wife for about 5 1/2 years. We have both taken lessons before, but the usual kind - spend some time on the range with an instructor and then go practice and hope to bring the driving range to the course. But that only takes you so far and then you're stuck. But with Golf Made Simple, we both immediately understood the concepts as taught and demonstrated by James and in short order were able to put them into practice.

Yesterday, we had our first opportunity to take those lessons to the course for real. To begin with, our warm-ups were different than before. Rather than hitting a bucket of balls and doing a little putting, this time we did your 29-ball warm up drill - left-side/right-side - the short, on and over - then the half swing driver. On the putting green we concentrated on working around the hole with 3' and 6' foot putts and accelerating through the ball. This is a much more positive experience before getting to the first tee.

While we were a little nervous on the first tee, playing with strangers and hoping our efforts were going to be rewarded, the bottom line is that we both played significantly better than before. That is not to say that we didn't have bad shots - we did - but we immediately knew what we had done wrong and then were able to apply that experience to the next shot so that it was better. We became our own instructors and that helped a lot. Now, we know WHY we make a less than great shot. Very valuable information indeed.

At the end of the round, my wife had broken 100 for the first time. I was on my way to my best round ever when I made the BIG mistake, I counted up my score up to the 17th hole and knew that I was on track for no worse than an 85. No worse of course unless you start to pay attention to scoring rather than tick tock and a good turn. Needless to say, I doubled the last two holes to finish with an 88. Still a good score for me, but I learned a very valuable lesson - I'll never add up anything until we're done again.

Thank you so much for a great school and please pass along to James our heartfelt gratitude for all he did for us. We will be recommending your experience to every golfer we know. We are on our way to being Players and not Monkeys. Thank you, thank you

“I’m Now Hitting My Drives About 30 Yards Farther!”

On attending a GMS session in Phoenix (Jan 22-24, 2010), one of my aims was to hit my drives farther. Based on my round yesterday, I’d say I’m now hitting my drives about 30 yards farther. I still have more work to do – but there has been an obvious improvement.

I can also feel a significant difference in my irons - making solid contact. This is also backed up by an incident last weekend. The ranger on duty drove up to our cart after I’d hit an 8 iron from 140 out and he said:

”You should have had that on video….the tempo of your swing, the balance and follow through was perfect. The penetrating ball flight, landing softly on the green….all you need to do now is make the putt.”

That’s the first time I’ve heard a ranger comment on a players shot/swing – so I think the change must be noticeable.

As I said earlier – I still have work to do, but I can feel an improvement.

Thanks again,
