"My 2nd Trip To GMS Was The Best"

Hi Alex,

I just wanted to let you know that Alan and I had a fantastic time at Golf Made Simple. Both of us really enjoyed it.

Alan loved GMS. You'll be happy to know both of us had two really great games afterwards, Alan shooting 80 and I shot 85, I was thrilled.

By the way, Alan was bragging about GMS at Mission Hills Country Club. I could not have described GMS to Alan after attending last year by myself - he had to see it for himself and he was really impressed. We will definitely be back again. "Brock Made The State Championships"

Alex,

I want to first tell you thank you for Golf Made Simple. My son and I worked with Wat and had a great time. We would like to get with Wat again on these dates in March as it is my sons spring break from school. Brock (my son) played his first year of high school golf and hadn't broken 100 before GMS. His 1st tournament he had rounds of 89 and 87.

His best score was 82 where he placed 2nd in a JV tournament, and as a freshman he made it to State Tournament. It was a good year for him and we would like to get more instruction before he starts spring golf. I hope you can get us both into this class in March.

"I've Improved from a 19.6 to a 12.6"

Jeff,

This is Mike from Boston. Since we were last in contact, I've had some great rounds of Golf. I've had a lot of rounds in the low 80s and had a 76 at my local course! All thanks to Golf Made Simple. I am definitely thinking of returning some time in '08. My handicap has gone from a 19.6 to a 12.6!!!

I am thinking of purchasing a new set of clubs and a new driver for next year (still have the original set I started out with). Any suggestions or recommendations of what I should get? Would you recommend getting them custom fitted or just off the shelf?

"I'm Down To an 11 Handicap"

Jeff,

My game has improved this year whereby I have my handicap down to an 11 and if I could ever putt would be in single digits. I am hitting the ball farther than ever and in play. I am enjoying it more than ever and was able to get several games into the high 70's. That was so sweet and quite a thrill.

It is getting cold up here and golf is limited to playing in several layers, however we are still getting out once or twice a week.

"A Good Day For Me!!"

Marc,

Just wanted you to know that I shot an easy 82 (40, 42) on Saturday during my club's opening men's day event. I was the B player in an A, B, C, D handicap format and ended up tying the A player who also shot an 82. My putting was much improved thanks to you!!

Our foursome ended up second overall, one behind the winning team, and I also won longest, straightest drive on a par 5. All in all, I won $75.00 in shop credit that will eventually go toward a new putter.

An even better part of my game that day was that I could hear you whispering suggestions in my subconscious as I picked clubs and worked my PLAN. All in all a good day for me!!

Thanks for all you've done to help my game,

Regards,

"I Was a 16 handicap and I Shot 79!"

Hayden -

Golf update, played Sunday and shot an 82, my second lowest round of the year. The greens were very difficult and I 3-putted at least 5 or 6 times but I also had 4 birdies and played away from trouble.

The biggest key was having my drives in play, even if they were in the rough they were in play! My 2 goals after GMS were to break 80 and get my index down to a 12 (from a 16). I shot a 79 this year and my index is at 13.9 right now. I am very happy with my progress this year. I have played more golf than normal this summer, but I am playing a different kind of golf - a better kind of golf. I now have a foundation and know I will progress every time I step onto the course. I know that handicap will come down a little bit every year.

Thanks,

"Best Round Ever After Limited Play All Year!"

Hayden,

I was your student in Feb 2006, but due to work and other issues I didn't play much the rest of that year. However, in 2007 I started playing again. I went over my notes from our class, started practicing some of the drills and played a few rounds. Determined, I went out last Sunday to a course with a 72 rating, and 132 slope, and planned each shot. I didn't worry about my score on each hole. Instead I concentrated on each shot and planned for the next one. I didn't try near-impossible 200+ yard second shots to the green, or long carries over hazards. I played shots I knew I could make rather than ones I maybe could pull off 1 out of 10 times. And I ended up shooting my best round ever - 83.

I now know I have it in me to play well if I stick to my plan. I can't wait to play this weekend.

You made it possible. Thanks for your help.

"My Last 4 Rounds Have Been In The 80's"

Hey Jeff,

When I attended GMS last October my objective was to break 90. My last 4 rounds at Mill Creek have been 89, 88, 88, and 86. I shot the 86 today after a quadruple bogie on the par 4 starting hole. In the past I would focus on that poor start for the entire round. Today I worked my PLAN and put the 8 behind me. Thanks!!!

"My USGA Index is now a 10.9"

Marc,

Single digits are in sight! My USGA Index is now a 10.9. Actually, I might already be there as I posted a couple more low scores since this 'official' tally.

"See It, Feel It & Doing It"

Hayden,

Just one week after attending your Level II Program, I shot my new best score. Playing at my home course from the Gold Tees (6,700 yds.), I shot a 41 on the front nine and thought I could have done better if not for the two times I failed to develop a realistic PLAN.

On the back nine, I started off with a birdie, had a bogie two holes later, another birdie on 17, and a bogie on 18 to finish the back nine at even par 36 and a total score of 77.

The difference in the front nine and the back nine? A much better PLAN, I hit seven of the nine greens in regulation, and I putted to the box on every putt. Over the entire 18 holes, I never had a three putt mainly because my short irons were working so well all day. It's much easier to avoid those nasty three putts when you consistently put the ball on the green within 10 to 20 feet of the hole.

I am playing again tomorrow and of course I hope to do either as well or better than today, but I am also prepared to work through it if things do not go as well.

See it, Feel it, Do it!

Tick-Tock....

Sincerely,

"Since GMS - 84, 87, 83 and Yesterday 78!"

Hayden,

I am not sure I want to go out on the golf course any more. The hole in one that I had once I got home was great, but more important to me is the confidence I now have with hitting the ball. So far since getting back from GMS I have shot an 84, 87, 83 and yesterday a 78. The 78 is an all time record. My index has gone from a 15.7 to 13.1 in less than a month!

I am hitting the ball much more accurately. This is due to getting my center of gravity in front of the ball when I strike it. The other major thing that has been of great help is PACE. Tick Tock may not be heard by any of my playing partners, but it is the only thing that I hear while I am swinging. I am getting up and down much more frequently due to SEEING IT, FEEING IT AND DOING IT. Picking out a landing spot and letting the ball go from there really does work. Not having a 3 put was also a key to yesterdays score. I sunk every put inside of 6 feet.

My once a month allotment of birdies has turned into 3 yesterday including one I sunk from a greenside bunker. I am going to use today as a practice day. MBS will be the final drill that I use to tune up for playing in the South Carolina Senior Men's golf outing at the Oldfield course.

The only way this can get any better is if this continues. I am trying very hard to not allow the old philosophy of having a blow up round creep into my mental framework. I know I will have bad shots because I already have (two balls in the water in a row yesterday, and I still shot the 78, can you imagine if?).

Thanks for listening and will keep you informed.

Thank you,

"I Shot An 86 And Very Pleased"

Hi Scott,

I am now back home in Denmark.

Thank you for three days where I learned a lot. There will be three points from where I will get the most benefit in my future golf games and that is:

- Have a PLAN for each shot - Remember my Tick Tock - Use the "Belly Swing" and practice the "Modified Belly Swing"

I had a round of golf in Daytona Beach, and most of my drives were straight or with a little fade. Few drives were bad, but I knew how to correct them. There was also a couple other bad shots, but it was either the Tick Tock, the Belly Swing or the Weight Shift. But now I know how to correct these mistakes and my next shot were much better.

I shot an 86, and was very pleased!

I look forward for the season to start here in Denmark. I will still have some bad shots and not so good rounds, but my average rounds will be better and I will know how to get back on track. I will absolutely use what I have learned.

Best regards,

"Maybe I Should Be A Teacher Instead Of A Player"

Dear Jeff,

Thank you for a very enjoyable and enlightening 3 days, GMS is a great set up and I hope to return one day. I'm sure you get emails with hole by hole analysis so I won't bore you with all mine, but I played 36 holes this weekend. Made par on the opening hole (longest and hardest over 400 yards uphill) both days, once by chipping to a foot and today by hitting a 2 iron to 6 feet out of rough, lipped the putt. All told, I chipped within a foot 5 times, chipped in from 15 yards for a 3 on the third and made 3 "Sandy's". My shot of today was a 3 iron on the 180 yard, par three 17th to 9 inches, almost an ace.

Yesterday evening I took my wife for a GMS chipping lesson and to work on her PLAN, today she ran off 7 straight pars from holes 9 to 15 and shot 40 on the back, 4 better than her best ever! Maybe I should be a teacher instead of a Player! All this and it has only been 3 days since Florida.

The PLAN is working!

"Mid 80's - Fantastic!"

Hayden,

You might not remember me (yet), but I attended GMS with you last August. My name is Steve and I am in the Navy (on a submarine). I am sure that it is all coming back to you now...

After leaving GMS I was only able to get in a few rounds before going to sea and then the weather in Connecticut turned bad - needless to say not much golf. But the few rounds I did play were fantastic. Mid 80's, and I had so much more control than normal and I know what I was doing wrong.

I have moved to California and I am a student (still in the Navy). I live about 3 miles from Pebble Beach and I am surrounded by fantastic courses. And the good news is that I have time to enjoy them! I have played about 14 rounds of golf since Jan 1 and I am loving life. Everything that you taught me is right there with me on every shot - PLAN, Rehearsal Swing, Tick-Tock. My first round was 88, not too bad since I hadn't even swung a club in 4 months.

Yesterday I only got in 14 holes before dark but I was only 4 over par until that point! Incredible! Out of the 14 rounds I've played, I'm averaging 1.93 putts - if you remember putting was my biggest challenge when I came to see you! Every aspect of my game is better since I visited you and now that I have the chance to play often, I am building confidence and consistency that I never thought possible.

Some of the courses that I have played Bayonet (82) Blackhorse (80) Pacific Grove (4 over after 14), Leguna Seca (81) Del Monte (84). I am looking forward to Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Spanish Bay, Poppy Hill, Bodega Harbor, and many others.

I just wanted you to know what a great experience I had and how much I owe to you and GMS. I am ready for an advanced course as soon as I can get into one.

Thanks Hayden!

"1-Over Par On 9 Holes"

Hi Wat,

thanks again for last week.

I worked out today and used tick tock. Great shots over and over. Also used the Riding Hands Drill. Played in Palm Springs on Monday. On the Back Nine I scored a one over par - 37!Played the Front Nine only mediocre, but at the turn, had two bananas for nutrition and it was game on.

I made par at the 10th after lipping out for birdie. The 11th par, 12th bogie, 13th birdie, 14th birdie, 15th lip-out par putt and made bogie, 16th bogie, 17th par. Then on the 18th which is known as one of the toughest par 4's in Palm Springs - I par!

One over on the back nine!

It was my ability to settle down and play well on the back nine after an average front, that I can say that I learned from this round. Anyhow, I'll keep in touch, and thanks for the drills.

Regards,

Bruce P - Colorado - February 1st, 2007
